Meet Tyson
Everybody has one horse that is the comedian of the group - that's Tyson! There is not a day that goes by that he doesn't make me laugh right out loud or at least make me smile. His latest talent is that he can open his stall door with his tongue! Some horses have a barn name that is different than their registered name, not Tyson - his registered name (Root's Archaic Tyson) was given to him because even as a baby it described him perfectly...he's big, he's black and he nibbles. Tyson was born in Vermontville, Michigan in 2008. How perfect that a Morgan is born in a place that has Vermont in the name of it. If you don't know why you will have to read Hark! Follow My Hoofbeats to find out why. Tyson joined our family when he was only 7 months old. Even his baby picture puts a smile on your face! He is constantly trying to get our attention with his antics. In the winter he runs with his nose down in the snow and then proudly shows us the results. In the summer he finds creative ways to wear his fly mask.
Tyson has a serious side too. He went to his first show on the day he turned 2 years old. Martin showed him in hand and suddenly Tyson showed us he knew when it was time to be serious. He's a lovely dressage horse and he drives too. At his first dressage show as a 4 year old I remember leaving the ring and telling my friends, "Well he's dressageable!" At his second show the judge leaned out of the booth after the test and said to me, "Is he young? He's adorable!"
The second book in the Hoofbeats Through History series, Dark to Light, spans the Middles Ages so there's a lot about knights and their horses in the book. Tyson looks like a knight's horse so this is his book. Tyson is 16 hands - that's big for a Morgan! But did you know that most of the knight's horses were no bigger than 15 hands?! You will have to read the book to learn more. Tyson is beyond a doubt the most beautiful and photogenic horse we have ever owned. It was so hard to choose pictures for his page on the website because he just doesn't take a bad picture.
We can't wait until you meet Tyson at a book signing. He's loveable AND laughable. In the meantime, enjoy the many pictures of our handsome Tyson.
